The critically acclaimed series Hacks concludes its fourth season with an exciting finale shot in Singapore, marking a key collaboration between Max, Universal Television, and the Infocomm Media Development Authority (IMDA) and Singapore Tourism Board (STB). The episode was made possible through the Singapore On-Screen Fund, a joint initiative by IMDA and STB designed to support international film and television production while promoting Singapore as a global destination for both tourism and filmmaking.
The Singapore On-Screen Fund not only fosters global media collaborations but also provides opportunities for local talent development. Yvonne Tang, Assistant Chief Executive Officer of IMDA’s Media Industry Group, emphasized the role of this partnership in showcasing Singapore’s media production capabilities. “This collaboration with Max and Universal Television for Hacks’ Season 4 finale highlights Singapore’s ability to support global media production through its skilled talent, state-of-the-art infrastructure, and creative potential,” Tang said. “The fund enables local professionals and artists to work alongside leading international companies, elevating Singapore’s creative and production expertise on a global stage.”
In the final episodes of the season, Deborah Vance (Jean Smart) decides to end her late-night talk show rather than conform to her network’s demands. To continue her career, she relocates abroad due to a non-compete clause, bringing her to Singapore.
“We had a fantastic time filming Hacks in Singapore,” said the show’s creators and executive producers, Paul W. Downs, Lucia Aniello, and Jen Statsky. “The hospitality was incredible, and without the support of IMDA and STB, we wouldn’t have been able to complete the shoot. The city’s production capabilities are truly impressive, and the local team displayed exceptional professionalism, perfectly showcasing Singapore as a world-class travel destination.”
The season finale features several iconic Singapore landmarks, including:
-
The Helix Bridge
-

Eileen Lee, Senior Vice President of the Americas at the Singapore Tourism Board, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration. “We are excited to partner with Max and Universal Television to feature Singapore’s unique charm in Hacks’ Season 4 finale. The city’s dynamic and vibrant landscape serves as the ideal backdrop for Deborah and Ava’s journey. This collaboration strengthens Singapore’s position as a premier filming destination and offers audiences a chance to experience the city’s allure. We hope this will inspire viewers to visit Singapore and create their own memorable experiences.”
