Peacock and A24’s much-anticipated horror series Crystal Lake has cast actor William Catlett in a leading role, Deadline has exclusively learned. The project, which serves as a prequel to the iconic Friday the 13th film franchise, represents a bold new expansion of one of the most enduring properties in horror cinema.

Catlett, best known for his performance in A Thousand and One, will play a character named Levon Brooks. While specific details about the character and storyline are being tightly guarded, sources close to the production confirm that Brooks is expected to play a central role in the unfolding narrative. The series will reportedly explore the dark legacy and origin story surrounding Camp Crystal Lake, the infamous setting of the original films.

Joining Catlett in the cast is Linda Cardellini, who has been tapped to portray Pamela Voorhees. The character is the mother of Jason Voorhees, the hockey-mask-wearing killer who became a horror icon. Pamela herself was revealed as the original killer in the 1980 Friday the 13th film, making her a pivotal figure in the franchise’s mythology. Cardellini’s casting adds further intrigue and dramatic weight to the series.

Barsamian, Robert P. Barsamian, Stuart M. Manashil, and Tysen Bidner. Their combined experience is expected to deliver a faithful yet fresh interpretation of the franchise for modern audiences.

First announced in October 2022, Crystal Lake is among A24’s most ambitious television ventures to date. Known for its prestige films and arthouse productions, A24 has increasingly been shifting toward broader commercial content, particularly through projects anchored in recognizable intellectual property. Crystal Lake is positioned as a cornerstone of this evolving strategy, balancing genre appeal with the company’s signature creative quality.

The original Friday the 13th franchise began in 1980 and has since spawned numerous sequels, reboots, and merchandise, becoming one of the highest-grossing horror franchises in film history. With this new series, the property aims to reach a new generation of fans while deepening the backstory that has captivated horror enthusiasts for over four decades.

No official release date has been announced, but production is expected to begin later this year. Further casting announcements and plot developments are anticipated in the coming months.
