A high-speed chase ensues, and after a dangerous confrontation, Wes manages to subdue Lloyd, but not before the suspect reveals he’s carrying a suicide pill, ready to end his life if he is caught. Wes, undeterred, offers a deal: he will allow Lloyd to keep the pill if the man reveals Heather’s location.
In a surprising twist, Wes successfully locates Heather, bruised but alive, and arranges for her reunion with her relieved mother. As for Lloyd, he gets the cruel shock of his life when he opens the pill box and finds it empty. Wes taunts him with a final, chilling remark: “You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?” The look of desperation on Lloyd’s face, as he realizes his fate, serves as a darkly satisfying moment for viewers.
