The fifth series of The Bay was aired earlier this year on ITV1. Since its debut in 2019, the show has attracted a large audience, following a fictional Morecambe police team solving crimes against the scenic and sometimes eerie backdrop of the town and surrounding area.

In the latest season, the team, led by DI Tony Manning (Dan Ryan), investigated the murder of a young student named Hannah, whose body was discovered at Glasson Dock.

Daragh Carville, the show’s Lancaster-based writer, urged fans to vote through a message on his X account: “Voting for the National TV Awards is now open with The Bay up for Best Returning Drama and Marsha Thomason for Best Drama Performance. Vote vote vote!”

Voting is open online across 14 categories, including Reality Competition, New Drama, Quiz Show, and Serial Drama.

Additionally, the BBC1 daytime programme Morning Live, featuring Lancaster solicitor Gary Rycroft as a regular legal expert, has been nominated in the Daytime category.
