Apple TV+ has announced the global debut of its new preschool animated series Not a Box, set to premiere on Friday, June 13. The show aims to inspire preschool children to think beyond the ordinary, sparking their imaginations in a world of endless possibilities. Based on the beloved and award-winning children’s book by New York Times bestselling author and illustrator Antoinette Portis, the series follows Riley, a bright bunny, as she uses a simple cardboard box to create a magical world filled with new friends and exciting adventures.
The eight-episode series stars Isabelle Birch as Riley and Ian James Corlett (known for Dragon Ball Z) as the adult. It invites young viewers and their families to create, explore, and celebrate together in a world rich with environments, characters, and experiences—one as boundless as their imagination.
Not a Box is produced by Silver Creek Falls Entertainment, with Dete Meserve serving as executive producer. The series is written by Emmy Award winner Michael Rabb, who also serves as co-executive producer. Animation is provided by Passion Pictures, with executive producers Debbie Crosscup and Andrew Ruhemann, and Siri Melchior as the director. Other executive producers include Harry Lowell from NiteLite Pictures and Angus Wall and Linda Carlson from Rock Paper Scissors. Kate Robinson, director of the Sir Ken Robinson Foundation and daughter of the late Sir Ken Robinson, serves as an expert on imagination and creativity through Apple TV+’s changemakers program. Robinson co-authored her father’s manifesto, Imagine… Creating the Future for Us All, which celebrates the transformative power of imagination.
