The third season trailer for Prime Video’s hit series The Summer I Turned Pretty debuted Thursday, teasing major developments in protagonist Belly’s life.
Played by Lola Tung, Belly appears resolute, especially about her relationship with Jeremiah. The season opens with Belly telling her mother that Jeremiah, her childhood friend, is her true love, and it ends with her walking down the aisle.
Regarding Jeremiah’s brother Conrad—Belly’s first love—she reflects, “That kind of love only happens once.”
But Belly makes it clear: “First love is important, but lasting love matters more. Jeremiah is my future.” She pushes aside the complicated feelings with Conrad as the love triangle intensifies.
In the trailer, Belly reveals her plan to marry Jeremiah to her mother, played by Jackie Chung, who responds with concern: “Sorry, what? Belly, dear, you two aren’t ready for a commitment like that. You’re talking about forever.”
Belly admits, “When I’m with Jer, everything feels easy. But no matter where I go, I think about Conrad.”
The preview is set to Taylor Swift’s popular songs “Daylight” and “Red,” featured also in the first season’s teaser.
Season 3 adapts Jenny Han’s beloved book series, set at the end of Belly’s junior year at college. She and Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno) are in a steady relationship, but the return of Conrad (Christopher Briney) forces Belly to confront a difficult love triangle.
As the trailer nears its end, Belly’s flashbacks and memories with Conrad play alongside the chorus of “Red.” The tension escalates when Jeremiah hits his brother, Belly runs away in tears, and a car accident occurs. In a powerful final scene, Belly, dressed in white and holding a bouquet, walks down the red carpet.
She states, “Life is too short to miss out on time with the people you love.”
Who will Belly choose—Conrad or Jeremiah?
The final season consists of 11 episodes and aims to bring the story to a satisfying conclusion. Jenny Han serves as showrunner, with Sarah Kucserka and Karen Rosenfelt as executive producers. Paul Lee, Hope Hartman, and Matz Hansen produce through wiip, with Amazon Studios co-producing.
The Summer I Turned Pretty Season 3 premieres July 16 exclusively on Prime Video.
