The highly anticipated live-action adaptation of The Legend of Zelda remains tight-lipped about its cast, but recent reports suggest that fan-favorite actress Hunter Schafer is a leading contender to portray Princess Zelda. Industry insider Daniel Richtman revealed that Schafer, known for her critically acclaimed role as Jules Vaughn in HBO’s Euphoria, has gained significant attention for the part—thanks in part to her striking resemblance to the iconic video game character and her strong acting credentials.
Schafer’s rising profile includes roles in The Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes and the horror film Cuckoo. In a 2023 interview, she expressed enthusiasm about the possibility of playing a fantasy role, noting her childhood love for the Zelda video game series and her excitement at the prospect of bringing the beloved character to life on screen.
While Schafer is a frontrunner, no official casting announcements have been made. Other potential candidates include Patricia Summersett, the voice actress for Princess Zelda in the games, and Walker Scobell, star of Percy Jackson & the Olympians, who is rumored to be considered for the role of Link but has expressed some hesitation.
The film will be directed by Wes Ball, known for his work on The Maze Runner trilogy and the Planet of the Apes reboot. Legendary game designer Shigeru Miyamoto and producer Avi Arad are also involved in the project, which is being produced by Oddball Entertainment. The Legend of Zelda movie is scheduled for release on March 26, 2027.
With its strong creative team and beloved source material, the film is generating significant excitement among fans of the franchise. Audiences eagerly await how the movie will translate the magical world and iconic characters of the game into a live-action cinematic experience.
