Netflix has dropped the highly anticipated official trailer for The Old Guard 2 ahead of its July 2 release. After months of behind-the-scenes photos and sneak peeks, this is the first full glimpse of the action-packed sequel.
In the new trailer, Uma Thurman makes her first appearance as the “First Immortal” while teasing some of the plotlines fans can expect. Netflix has confirmed that the sequel picks up where the first movie left off, following the journey of Andy (played by Charlize Theron), the leader of an immortal mercenary team. However, in this installment, Andy is no longer immortal.
The movie focuses on Quinn, played by Veronica Ngo, a character teased at the end of the first film. After escaping from an underwater prison, she embarks on a quest for revenge. Quinn aims to bring down Andy (Charlize Theron) and her “immortal” team, which includes Nile (KiKi Layne), Joe (Marwan Kenzari), and Nicky (Luca Marinelli).
Andy and her immortal warrior team return, more determined than ever to protect the world. However, their unity faces a serious test as Booker (Matthias Schoenaerts), a former ally, has gone into exile due to betrayal, while Quinn prepares her revenge. Meanwhile, Andy struggles with the possibility of her own death, and a mysterious new threat rises that could jeopardize everything she has worked for over the millennia. Seeking help from an old friend, Tuah (Henry Golding), Andy and her team may finally uncover the key to solving the mysteries of immortality.
Directed by Victoria Mahoney, The Old Guard 2 is an emotionally charged, thrilling continuation of the world created by Greg Rucka and illustrator Leandro Fernandez. With Uma Thurman joining the cast, the sequel promises to be an action-packed and captivating experience that fans won’t want to miss.
