Miley Cyrus has revealed the official trailer for her upcoming visual album titled Something Beautiful. This project is described as a “one-of-a-kind cinematic experience” and will have special one-night-only theatrical screenings across North America on June 12. Internationally, the film will be released on June 27 through Trafalgar Releasing and Sony Music Vision.
The world premiere of Something Beautiful will take place at the Tribeca Film Festival on June 6.
Produced by Miley Cyrus alongside XYZ Films and Panos Cosmatos (known for Mandy and Beyond The Black Rainbow), the project is a collaboration with Sony Music Vision, Columbia Records, and Live Nation. The film is co-directed by Cyrus, Jacob Bixenman, and Brendan Walter, with Benoît Debie handling cinematography.
Cyrus described the film as her dream project, a harmonious blend of fashion, film, and original music. She praised her collaborators, highlighting the talents of sound masters Shawn Everett and Alan Meyerson, as well as Panos Cosmatos, who serves as a producer.
The visual album accompanies the release of Cyrus’s latest music album, also titled Something Beautiful, set to be released on May 30 via Columbia Records. The album features 13 original songs, with guest appearances from supermodel Naomi Campbell and Brittany Howard of Alabama Shakes.
Something Beautiful is characterized as a unique pop opera infused with fantasy, showcasing new original music tied to the visual experience.
Earlier, Cyrus told Harper’s Bazaar that the album was conceived as a concept project, similar to Pink Floyd’s The Wall but with a more glamorous aesthetic and filled with pop culture references. She aims to use music to address and “medicate” some of the cultural challenges of today.
