Netflix has officially ordered two new series: All the Sinners Bleed and The Corpse, announced during its recent upfront presentation.
All the Sinners Bleed is a nine-episode thriller series adapted from S.A. Cosby’s novel of the same name. The story centers on the first Black sheriff of a small county in the Bible Belt. Haunted by his FBI background and the early death of his devout mother, he leads the pursuit of a serial killer who has been silently terrorizing the Black communities of South Virginia for years under the guise of divine justice.
Joe Robert Cole, co-writer of Black Panther, will serve as showrunner and direct the pilot and multiple episodes. Executive producers include Cosby, Amblin Television, and Higher Ground. Netflix and Higher Ground previously collaborated on several documentaries and films such as Starting 5, Leave the World Behind, and Rustin.
The second series, The Corpse, is a coming-of-age drama created by Quinn Shephard. The plot involves a group of unruly Catholic school girls who begin to experience prophetic visions following a mishap during their dance team initiation, triggering a wave of hysteria throughout their town.
Shephard is the showrunner and will direct the pilot and other episodes. Executive producers include Amy Israel, Peter Chernin, Josh Stern, and others. Netflix and Chernin Entertainment have a track record of collaborating on projects like Reboot, Mad Men, and upcoming thrillers and adaptations.
These new orders demonstrate Netflix’s continued commitment to producing diverse and compelling original content across multiple genres.
