HBO has unveiled the official American trailer for the Spanish drama series Furia (English title: Anger), which is scheduled to premiere globally this July on Max. The series will also launch in Spain simultaneously, offering audiences on both sides of the Atlantic a timely and intense look into the lives of five women grappling with extreme emotional and psychological turmoil.
Created and directed by renowned Spanish filmmaker Félix Sabroso, Furia explores the intertwined stories of five women confronting harsh realities such as blackmail, oppression, manipulation, and betrayal. These women’s lives intersect in unexpected ways, triggering a cascade of events reminiscent of a butterfly effect, where each conflict ignites another, ultimately leading to a shared eruption of anger and emotional release.
The series is composed of eight episodes, each running approximately 30 minutes, offering a tightly paced yet deeply compelling narrative. This format allows for an intimate exploration of the characters’ motivations and struggles, highlighting their resilience amid adversity.
One of the series’ notable strengths is its powerful ensemble cast, which reunites five iconic Spanish actresses: Carmen Machi, Candela Peña, Cecilia Ross, Nathalie Poza, and Pilar Castro. Each actress delivers a nuanced performance as women pushed to their emotional limits, seeking justice and revenge in a sharply written contemporary satire. The show’s narrative spares no one, exposing vulnerabilities and societal issues in a raw and unflinching manner.
Supporting roles are filled by a talented group of actors, including Claudia Salas, Alberto San Juan, Anna Torrent, Claudia Rosset, Mima Riera, Pedro Casablanc, Marilú Marini, Iván Pellicer, Francesc Garrido, Matías Rubio, and Pepón Nieto, who enrich the series with their compelling portrayals.
Produced by the Spanish company Producciones Mandarina, Furia is a thoughtful and incisive critique of modern societal ills, particularly focusing on the abuse and struggles faced by women in today’s world. Félix Sabroso, who has an impressive track record with works such as The Island Inside and Age of Monster, not only created and wrote the series but also co-directed it alongside Jau Fornés. The production is overseen by a skilled team of executive producers including Santi Botello, José María Caro, Alberto Carullo, David Ocaña, Antonio Trashorras, and Teddy Villalba, ensuring a high-quality and internationally appealing project.
The series’ release on Max on July 11, 2025, marks an important addition to HBO’s diverse international offerings, reflecting the network’s commitment to bringing bold, relevant, and socially resonant stories to a global audience. Furia promises to be a provocative and insightful drama that examines the complexity of female anger and empowerment against the backdrop of contemporary societal challenges.
Viewers interested in intense, character-driven dramas with strong social commentary will find Furia a compelling watch this summer.
