USA Network has announced the premiere date for Rainmaker, a legal drama series adapted from John Grisham’s novel. The show will debut on August 15, accompanied by the release of its first official trailer and promotional images.
The series follows Rudy Baylor (Milo Cawthorne), a recent law school graduate who begins working at a prestigious law firm. However, Rudy quickly faces dismissal due to his unwillingness to back down from conflicts, a detail highlighted in the trailer.
Produced by Lionsgate Television and Brendow Pictures, Rainmaker is executive produced and showrun by Michael Seitzman. The story centers on Rudy’s clashes with seasoned attorney Leo Drummond (John Slattery) and Leo’s law school girlfriend Sarah Plankmore (Madison Iseman). Together with Rudy’s boss (Lana Parrilla) and her disorganized legal assistant, they uncover two linked conspiracies surrounding the suspicious death of a client’s son.
The cast also features PJ Byrne, Dan Fogler, Wade Briggs, and Robyn Cara.
The series was ordered by NBCUniversal Cable in June 2024, marking the conclusion of Seitzman’s six-year endeavor to adapt Grisham’s novel for television. Seitzman co-wrote the pilot with Jason Reitman and serves as showrunner. Executive producers include Seitzman, Reitman, John Grisham, Jason Blum, and David Garnett.
