The Cleaning Lady concluded its two-hour Season 4 finale on June 3 with an intense and open-ended storyline, setting the stage for potential developments without confirming a series conclusion.
The episode follows Tony (Élodie Yung) as she overcomes a murder frame-up orchestrated by her fake husband Jorge (Santiago Cabrera). While imprisoned, Tony endures violent attacks from her rival Ramona (Kate del Castillo). Although both escape during a prison breakout, Ramona attempts to bury Tony alive. Tony survives and traps Ramona underground, though Ramona narrowly escapes death.
Elsewhere, Jorge loses his position as head of the Sinaloa cartel to Feng (Allan Ung) but plots a return, intending to bring Tony and her son Luca with him. Tony, however, aligns herself with the cartel, using insider information to gain their trust. Secretly, she plans to act as an informant on local prosecutor Joel Herman (Robert Cicchini). The finale closes with Tony telling Fiona (Martha Millan) she intends to manipulate all sides and ultimately seize control of the cartel.
The future of the series remains uncertain, as Fox has not yet renewed The Cleaning Lady for Season 5. Fox Television President Michael Thorn confirmed that renewal decisions will be announced gradually, with midseason shows like this still under consideration.
Ratings have fluctuated over the series’ run. While Season 3 saw declines, Season 4’s premiere attracted 1.295 million viewers, and most episodes have maintained over one million viewers. However, recent viewership dips raise questions about the show’s continuation.
With its consistent past performance and a strong Season 4 showing, Fox may opt to renew The Cleaning Lady for a final season to continue Tony’s compelling journey.
