Sinners Breaks Major Box Office Records

by Barbara

Ryan Coogler’s supernatural horror film Sinners has surpassed a significant box office milestone, rapidly climbing multiple highest-grossing movie charts in its fifth week. With a modest production budget of $90 million, the film has already earned over $320 million globally, including $244 million domestically. This strong performance has placed Sinners ninth on the all-time global horror box office chart, overtaking The Conjuring, and seventy-second on the all-time worldwide box office for R-rated movies.

Starring Michael B. Jordan, Hailee Steinfeld, and a talented ensemble cast, the movie continues to gain momentum, partly thanks to its recent IMAX re-release. It is nearing the eighth spot on the global horror chart, just behind A Quiet Place, and has a chance to climb even higher among R-rated films worldwide.

Domestically, Sinners ranks as the 12th highest-grossing R-rated movie, closely following The Hangover Part II. It also holds the third spot on the domestic horror chart, trailing only behind Jaws and It. The film’s ongoing box office success hints at a longer theatrical run before its digital release on June 3 and streaming on HBO Max in July.

The achievement is notable for an original screenplay, marking Sinners as a rare and impactful success in the horror and R-rated film genres, as well as in Warner Bros.’ history.
