Legendary Pictures is developing a live-action Street Fighter movie based on the popular Capcom video game series. Andrew Koji (Bullet Train), Jason Momoa (A Minecraft Movie), Noah Centineo (Warfare), and Roman Reigns (Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw) are currently in negotiations to join the cast, according to sources.
The project is directed by Kitao Sakurai (Bad Trip), who replaced Danny and Michael Philippou after Legendary acquired exclusive film and television rights for the Street Fighter franchise. The film is being co-developed and co-produced in partnership with Capcom. Details about the plot and the screenwriter have not been revealed.
Since its launch in 1987, Street Fighter has become one of the most successful fighting game franchises globally, known for its one-on-one battles and the evil organization Shadaloo led by M. Bison. The series has sold over 55 million units worldwide.
Koji, known for his roles in Warrior and Bullet Train, will appear in upcoming projects such as the Tubi Original Worth the Wait and Prime Video’s Haven. Momoa, coming off the success of A Minecraft Movie, has several projects lined up including Apple’s Chief of War and Legendary’s Animal Friends. Centineo, recently seen in Warfare and The Recruit, and Reigns, a WWE pro wrestler with a long championship reign who has appeared in films like Hobbs & Shaw, round out the star-studded cast.
