In addition, Ghost Princess: Ashes is scheduled to be screened at the 29th Fantasia International Film Festival, taking place in Montreal, Canada, from July 17 to August 3. Fantasia is North America’s largest genre film festival, focusing on fantasy, action, science fiction, and horror films. The festival primarily features works from Asia, Europe, and North America. This screening marks the second consecutive year the Ghost Princess film series will be presented at Fantasia, following the debut of Ghost Princess: Ghosts in the Rain in July of last year.

The first installment won the festival’s Best Animated Feature Award and the Bronze Audience Award. The film’s unique blend of traditional Japanese cultural elements—such as ukiyo-e and washi paper—with cutting-edge 3D computer graphics earned strong acclaim from international audiences. Praised for its breathtaking visual artistry, Ghost Princess has solidified its status as a must-see cinematic experience.

Festival attendees will receive promotional materials, including two types of flyers featuring trailers and key visuals, as well as a sticker adorned with scales—an item symbolizing the exorcism tool used by the film’s protagonist, a medicine seller.

Director Kenji Nakamura emphasized that the film’s color palette was carefully designed with a global audience in mind. Recognizing differences in color perception across ethnicities, the creative team enhanced color saturation to ensure visual appeal for viewers beyond Asia. As the international festival screenings approach, anticipation continues to build among global audiences for the second installment.
