‘Freaky Friday’ Sequel Trailer Teases Four-Way Body Swap Comedy

by Barbara

Disney has released the official trailer for the highly anticipated sequel to Freaky Friday, titled Freakier Friday. Starring Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan, the film is set to premiere in Australia on August 8, 2025. The sequel continues the beloved chaos and comedic elements of the original while telling a multi-generational family story.

In this follow-up, Anna Coleman (played by Lindsay Lohan) is now a successful record company executive preparing to marry Eric Davis (Manny Jacinto). Her teenage daughter Harper (Julia Butters) and soon-to-be stepsister Lily (Sophia Hammons) are uneasy about becoming siblings. At Anna’s bachelorette party, a mysterious palm reading triggers a bizarre body-swap event involving Anna and her mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) swapping bodies with Harper and Lily. This four-way swap sparks a series of both humorous and heartfelt moments, including the teenagers’ efforts to disrupt the wedding and reunite Anna with her high school boyfriend Jack (Chad Michael Murray).

The trailer highlights the film’s blend of nostalgic charm and contemporary humor, paying homage to the original with nods like Britney Spears vinyl records and the return of the band Pink Slip. Jamie Lee Curtis describes the sequel as “even weirder” than the original, featuring two body-swapping events and offering a fresh take on the mother-daughter relationship with deeper emotional layers.
