Amazon Prime Video’s highly anticipated adaptation of Stephen King’s Carrie, directed by acclaimed filmmaker Mike Flanagan, has officially announced its main cast. Samantha Sloyan has been confirmed to portray the iconic character Margaret White, Carrie’s strict and fanatical mother.
According to Variety, a total of ten actors have been confirmed as series regulars. Summer H. Howell will star as the titular character Carrie White, while Siena Agudong will play Sue Snell, as previously reported in April. Veteran actor Matthew Lillard has also joined the cast, taking on the role of Principal Grayle.
The confirmed main cast includes:
Samantha Sloyan (The Haunting of Hill House, Grey’s Anatomy) as Margaret White
Allison Sington (Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce, School Spirits) as Chris Hargensen
Thalia Dudek (Runaways, Dark Winds) as Emaline
Amber Midthunder (Legion, Prey) as Miss Desjardin
Josie Totah (Saved by the Bell, Ms. Marvel) as Tina
Arthur Conti (Beetlejuice musical, Fargo) as Billy
Joel Oulette (Reservation Dogs, Nancy Drew) as Tommy
This project marks another collaboration between Flanagan and Sloyan, who have previously worked together on several successful projects, including The Haunting of Hill House, The Fall of the House of Usher, The Midnight Club, Midnight Mass, and Flanagan’s 2016 thriller Hush.
The series was originally slated for an October 2024 release on Amazon Prime Video and received official approval in April 2025. Amazon has ordered eight episodes, with filming expected to commence in Vancouver within the coming weeks.
Mike Flanagan will serve as executive producer, showrunner, writer, and director for multiple episodes. Trevor Macy will also serve as executive producer. Production is handled by Amazon MGM Studios.
The series is described as a “bold and timely reimagining” of the story of Carrie White, a misfit high schooler living under the oppressive control of her mother Margaret White. After the sudden death of her father, Carrie must navigate the challenges of a new public school environment, a devastating bullying scandal, and the emergence of her mysterious telekinetic powers.
As one of Stephen King’s most influential works, Carrie remains a cultural touchstone, and this adaptation is highly anticipated by both fans of the novel and new viewers alike.
