Oscar-winning actress to take on a high-stakes role in new thriller
Michelle Yeoh has signed on to star in the action-packed thriller The Surgeon, set to be produced by Thunder Road Pictures. The film will be written and directed by Roshan Sesi, the creator of the popular series The Resident, according to Deadline.
The plot centers around Yeoh’s character, a retired surgeon who is kidnapped and forced to perform surgery on a mysterious patient. Despite being outnumbered, her captors overlook her greatest asset: 35 years of surgical experience. This leads to an intense battle as Yeoh’s character uses her medical expertise in a visually striking and strategic way to overcome her adversaries.
Yeoh, who won the Academy Award for Best Actress for her role in Everything Everywhere All at Once, has recently appeared in Star Trek: Section 31. Last year, she also received critical acclaim for her portrayal of Madame Morrible in the popular musical Wicked. Other notable film roles include Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, and the James Bond film Tomorrow Never Dies.
In addition to The Surgeon, Yeoh will appear in Avatar 4 and Avatar 5, where she will portray Dr. Karina Mogue. She will also reprise her role as Madame Morrible in Wicked: Part Two – The Untold Story later this year.
The Surgeon is the first installment in what is expected to be an exciting new film series.
