Gravitas has dropped an official trailer for Inhabitants, an indie psychological horror thriller, which marks the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Matt McClung. The film, slated for a direct-to-VOD release on February 14, 2025, promises to deliver a chilling story steeped in psychological terror and Catholic horror.
The film follows Olivia (Anna Jacoby-Heron), a young woman who moves to California with her boyfriend Francis (Josh Andrés Rivera), defying the wishes of both of their families. Tensions quickly mount when Francis’s devout Catholic mother disapproves of their cohabitation, expressing her discontent through violent, religious-themed postcards. Undeterred, the couple begins their new life together, only to find their peaceful existence shattered after a freak accident leaves Francis physically and emotionally scarred.
Soon after, Francis begins experiencing disturbing night terrors, speaking in his sleep to a figure Olivia cannot see, and sleepwalking to strange, unsettling corners of the house. As the incidents escalate, Olivia embarks on an investigation that leads to a terrifying revelation: the couple is being haunted by the vengeful ghost of Francis’s childhood youth minister. The ghost, enraged by their cohabitation, seeks to punish them for their perceived sins.
With a talented cast that includes Anna Jacoby-Heron, Josh Andrés Rivera, Ana Auther, Kevin Nealon, and Todd Robert Anderson, Inhabitants promises a tense, horror-filled exploration of guilt, retribution, and the supernatural.
Directed and written by Matt McClung, known for his previous work in short films, Inhabitants marks his first feature film. The film is produced by Thomas Rennier. Fans of Catholic horror and psychological thrillers should mark their calendars for its February debut.
