Anna Kendrick Ready for Third “The Accountant” Film

Anna Kendrick is ‘A Hundred Percent In’ for Potential Trilogy Conclusion

Gavin O’Connor, the director of The Accountant franchise, has confirmed that Anna Kendrick is ready to return for a potential third film. Kendrick, who starred as Christian Wolff’s (Ben Affleck) love interest Dana Cummings in the original film, was absent from the sequel, but O’Connor shared that she is fully onboard for completing the trilogy.

In an interview with The New York Times, O’Connor revealed that he, along with star Ben Affleck and screenwriter Bill Dubuque, had preliminary conversations with Kendrick about reprising her role. O’Connor stated, “I am personally running from another puzzle movie, which we’ve done twice now. One thing we’ve talked about is the idea of bringing Anna back. Maybe Christian can finally get the love that he deserves.”

Ben Affleck Ready for a Threequel

Affleck, who played the lead role of Christian Wolff in both The Accountant and its sequel, also expressed his enthusiasm for returning to the franchise. He emphasized that he’s “just waiting for another great script” to bring the threequel to life.

“We’re hoping she still likes us,” Affleck joked about Kendrick’s return. O’Connor then revealed that he and Kendrick have been in touch, saying, “Actually, Ben, she and I have been texting. She said she’s a hundred percent in if we want.”

The Director’s Vision for the Trilogy

O’Connor has long hoped for The Accountant to evolve into a three-film series, explaining that Christian Wolff’s journey requires more time to fully unfold. The director noted that the intention for the third film is to complete Christian’s quest for love and connection. “The third movie… is for [Christian’s] quest for love and connection to be consummated. I don’t know what that’s going to be yet, but that’s the intention,” O’Connor said.

While the second film focused more on action and the relationship between Christian and his brother, O’Connor envisions the third installment as a deeper exploration of Christian’s emotional journey. “When Bill and I started talking about the second movie, it was very important that we didn’t want a love story. We wanted a love story with brothers,” O’Connor added. He continued, “The third movie… is for [Christian’s] quest for love.”

As fans eagerly await confirmation of the third installment, it appears that the key players are ready to return and conclude the trilogy in a way that honors Christian’s emotional evolution.
