Claire Ayoub Launches “Empire Waist” Confidence Curriculum

by Barbara

Writer-director Claire Ayoub is set to unveil the “Empire Waist” Confidence Curriculum in conjunction with the release of her coming-of-age dramedy, “Empire Waist.” This free online program aims to provide resources on body image and self-confidence for both adolescents and adults, helping them navigate the themes raised by the film.

“Empire Waist” resonates deeply with audiences, fostering feelings of recognition and connection, and the Confidence Curriculum serves as a continuation of those vital discussions,” Ayoub stated. “It represents the film’s legacy, supporting viewers on their journeys toward self-acceptance.”

The film follows Lenore Miller (played by Mia Kaplan), an insecure, plus-sized teenager whose fashion talent is recognized by her confident classmate, Jemima Yevu. This newfound spotlight brings both challenges, including bullying, and opportunities for friendship. While Lenore’s father, Mark (Rainn Wilson), is a strong supporter, her image-conscious mother (Missi Pyle) and Lenore’s own insecurities hinder her ability to embrace her designs.

The Confidence Curriculum will be accessible on the “Empire Waist” website starting September 27, coinciding with the film’s nationwide premiere in the U.S. and Canada.
