by Barbara

After nearly 25 years, the latest season of “Survivor” returns to CBS this week. Season 47 will premiere on Wednesday, September 18, with a special two-hour episode at 8 p.m. PT/ET. Eighteen new contestants, all strangers, will face the challenges of surviving on an island in Fiji, competing in both group and individual trials for a chance to win $1 million and the ultimate title of “sole survivor.”

The show, which has been on the air since 2000, continues to be hosted by Jeff Probst, who has been at the helm for all 47 seasons. This season, episodes will also be available for streaming on Paramount+, both live and on demand for subscribers, or on demand for Paramount+ Essential users the day after they air.

“Survivor” has been filmed in Fiji’s Mamanuca Islands for the past 15 seasons, although earlier seasons took contestants to various global locations. The Season 46 finale saw Kenzie Veurink emerge as the winner, defeating runner-up Charlie Davis and third-place finisher Ben Katzman.

The new castaways will need to collaborate, form alliances, and strategize to outlast each other in their quest to become the sole survivor.
