Jaime Ray Newman and Josh Stamberg Join Cast of ‘JonBenét Ramsey’

Paramount+ has announced that Jaime Ray Newman and Josh Stamberg will join the cast of its forthcoming original limited series, JonBenét Ramsey. Both actors will take on recurring roles in the highly anticipated show, which explores the tragic and unsolved murder of the six-year-old beauty queen.

Newman, known for her roles in Dopesick and The Big Cigar, will portray Amelia Hunt, a wealthy and influential friend of John Ramsey. Hunt is part of an affluent circle of Boulder women who are close friends with Patsy Ramsey. Stamberg, who has appeared in Fleishman Is in Trouble and Ted, will play Reed Hunt, a recently retired oil magnate and a close associate of John Ramsey.

The series, which begins production in Calgary, Canada, will delve into the heart-wrenching story of the Ramsey family, their painful loss, and the intense media scrutiny that ensued. The narrative centers on Patsy and John Ramsey, exploring their complex relationship and the impact of the 1996 Christmas night tragedy that shattered their seemingly perfect life.

Richard LaGravenese serves as showrunner and executive producer, with Anne Sewitsky directing four of the eight episodes, including the series opener, and also serving as an executive producer. The show’s executive production team includes David C. Glasser, Ron Burkle, Bob Yari, David Hutkin, Melissa McCarthy, and Sewitsky. Writers Richard LaGravenese, Harrison Query, and Tommy Wallach will also take on executive producer roles.

Newman is set to appear as a series regular in the upcoming Starz series The Hunting Wives and has recently featured in The Big Cigar, Dopesick, and The Time Traveler’s Wife. She also guest-starred in the second season of Bel Air. She is represented by Greene Talent and The Burstein Company.

Stamberg’s recent credits include Ted, Fleishman Is in Trouble, The Time Traveler’s Wife, and WandaVision. He has also appeared in The Loudest Voice, The Affair, and Parenthood. Stamberg is repped by Innovative Artists and Suskin/Karshan Management.

The series promises to offer a gripping and insightful look into one of the most haunting cases in American history, capturing both the personal and public turmoil surrounding the Ramsey family.
