Jamie Lee Curtis Wins First Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actress

Jamie Lee Curtis, known for her role in “The Bear,” secured her first Emmy Award for Best Comedy Guest Actress at the Creative Arts Emmys held on Sunday night in downtown Los Angeles. This win marks a significant milestone for Curtis, who had previously been nominated in 1998 for her performance in “Nicholas’ Gift.” The Oscar winner, celebrated for her role in “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” also recently triumphed at the Gold Derby TV Awards in the same category.

Curtis triumphed over notable nominees including Olivia Colman (“The Bear”), Kaitlin Olson (“Hacks”), Da’Vine Joy Randolph (“Only Murders in the Building”), Maya Rudolph (“Saturday Night Live”), and Kristen Wiig (“Saturday Night Live”).

In “The Bear,” Curtis portrayed Donna Berzatto, the mother of Jeremy Allen White’s character, Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto, in a standout episode titled “Fishes.”

The Creative Arts Emmys were held across two nights, with the first night on September 7 dedicated to animation, reality, variety, and nonfiction programming, while September 8 covered dramas, comedies, TV movies, and limited series. The Primetime Emmys, hosted by Eugene and Dan Levy, will be broadcast live on ABC on September 15, presenting the remaining 25 awards.
