Following the success of VIVO: Who’s There? in 2021, which attracted over 100,000 viewers to cinemas, Hakuna Producciones is returning with its second major feature film, Barefoot: Hakuna. Directed by Santos Blanco, known for his work on LIBRES, the film will hit theaters in June across 12 Latin American countries and the United States, distributed by Bosco Films.
The documentary-style film explores how prayer, when transformed into music, can spark deep inner change—for those who create, perform, and listen. Barefoot dives into the spiritual roots of musical inspiration, revealing how silence, contemplation, and the pursuit of truth and beauty sustain creative expression.
Produced over two years, Barefoot was filmed in Spain, Italy, and Portugal. It features insights from renowned figures such as legendary composer Manuel Alejandro, who has written for international icons including Luis Miguel, Julio Iglesias, and Alejandro Sanz. The film weaves together the testimonies of artists and experts who reflect on how sacred silence becomes a birthplace for meaningful art.
The film’s central message is profound: “Only silence speaks. Then, you sing. You pray. You love.” Through its poetic narrative, Barefoot invites audiences to experience music as an act of vulnerability and openness—an encounter with truth that changes both the artist and the listener.

A Prayer That Becomes Music
At the heart of Barefoot lies the question: can prayer, when embodied in music, transform both the composer and the audience? The film responds with a resounding yes. It portrays how songs gain genuine power when they are born not from ego, but from silent surrender and spiritual encounter.
Through its lyrical and visual storytelling, the film reminds us that when someone dares to go barefoot—to shed pretense and open themselves to truth—what emerges is not just a melody, but a piercing arrow of meaning that reaches the heart. Life presents questions. Music offers answers. Then: you sing. You pray. You love.
